Owls Bounce Back at Canyons
Citrus College Women's Basketball traveled to College of the Canyons over the weekend to pick up a 91-35 win over the Cougars on Saturday, February 8th.
Citrus College improves to 15-9 overall on the season and 6-4 in conference games, while College of the Canyons goes to 4-20 overall on the season and 0-10 in conference games.
The Owls put forth a dominant performance both defensively and on offense, outscoring the Cougars in each quarter while holding them below 10 points in each of the first three quarters. Citrus took a commanding 51-14 lead into halftime and coasted in the second half to get their second win over Canyons this season.
The Owls had one of their best shooting performances of the season, going 36-of-63 (57%) from the field and hitting 12-of-23 (52%) of their three-pointers. Citrus forced 26 turnovers, scoring 34 points off those turnovers while outscoring the Cougars in second chance points 20-8, points in the paint 40-12 and bench scoring 46-4.
Kristin Morella led the Owls with 22 points, three steals, two rebounds and two assists off the bench. Jolleen Olia scored 16 points on 7-pf-10 from the field while adding three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Breanna Escobedo scored 11 points with a game-high five steals while adding four assists and four rebounds. Leilani Argueta scored 10 points with three rebounds, one assist and one steal. Maileeh Suasti led the Owls with nine rebounds and added four points, two steals, one block and one assist. Kaylana Viray had her best scoring performance of the season with 11 points while adding one rebound and one block. Elizabth Camargo contributed nine points, three steals, two assists and two rebounds off the bench.
Citrus College will host Santa Monica College at home this Wednesday, February 12th at 5 p.m.
