Owls Get Second Win Over LA Valley

Citrus College Women's Basketball picked up thier second conference win over LA Valley College with a 72-51 road win yesterday.

Citrus College improves to 14-8 overall and 5-3 in conference, while LA Valley College goes to 10-12 overall and 4-4 in conference games.

The Owls got off to a quick start, outscoring the Monarchs 19-5 in the first quarter, Kristin Morella put up 13 first quarter points, connecting on 3-of-3 from beyoind the arc.

Citrus College took a 37-24 lead into halftime and after letting the Monarchs get within nine points going into the fourth quarter, the Owls outscored LA Valley by 12 points in the final 10 minutes to secure the win.

The Owls shot 45.3% from the field and connected on five more three-pointers than the Monarchs (8-3). The Owls forced 19 turnovers while outscoring the Monarchs 21-11 in points off turnovers, 40-26 in points in the paint, and 17-9 in second chance points. Citrus held thier largest lead of 21 to the final buzzer.

Kristin Morella led the Owls with 22 points and added two rebounds, one assist and one steal. Jolleen Olia scored 19 points with six rebounds, a game-high five steals and two assists. Leilani Argueta scored nine points and grabbed nine rebounds while adding three assists.

Citrus College will return home this Wednesday, February 5th for a 5 p.m. matchup with Antelope Valley College.
