The Citrus College Men's Soccer team took on Compton College last Friday, September 13th in a close game that ended in a 2-2 tie.

Citrus College moves to 2-2-1 on the season while Compton College moves to 3-1-1 on the season.

The Owls went down early in the first half when the visiting Tartars scored goals in the 6th minute and again in the 17th to go up 2-0. After five shot attempts the Owls did not capitalize in the first half and trailed 2-0 at halftime.

When the whistle blew to begin the second half, Citrus came with energy, fighting hard for possession of the ball and making pivotal stops when Compton looked like they were on their way to going up 3-0. Goalie Hector Arteaga made an impressive save on a one-on-one breakaway from Compton's striker to shift the momentum in the Owls favor. Citrus finally got on the board with a strike from Nathan Rodriguez in the 89th minute to make the score 2-1.

In stoppage time Citrus found a way to earn the tie when a cross came in from Alan Morales and Yair Hernandez was able to head it into the back of Compton's goal. Although the game ended in a tie, it felt like a win for Citrus College as they battled through a game where their opponent committed 18 fouls and picked up four yellow cards.

The Owls will look to grab another home win, this Tuesday, September 17th as the host San Diego Mesa at 4 p.m.
