Owls Make Statement in 3C2A State Quarterfinal

Citrus College Men's Basketball made a statement today in the 3C2A State Championship Quarterfinal by defeating Las Positas College 112-73. Citrus College advances to the 3C2A Final Four with a semifinal matchup with City College of San Fransico, this Saturday, March 15 at 1 p.m.

Citrus College improves to 29-2 overall on the season, while Las Positas College ends their season at 26-5 overall.  

The Owls came out aggressive as they went up by 10 points within the first six minutes of action. Although the Owls' three-pointers were not falling in the first half (1-of-15) they went 24-of-47 from the field and hit 9-of-10 free throws while forcing 12 turnovers and limiting the Hawks to 12-of-32 from the field (37.5%). Citrus held a 58-34 lead at halftime as All-State selection KJ Perry scored 23 first half points, while Pejan Slater had 10 points and seven rebounds in the first half.  

Citrus' three-point shooting came back to life in the second half as the Owls connected on 7-of-14 from beyond the arc. The Owls' efficient offense 20-of-37 (54.1%) from the field helped increase their lead in the second half as they also stifled Las Positas' three-point shooting (1-of-18). 

Overall Citrus College outrebounded Las Positas 56-38, scored more points in the paint (64-42) and outscored the Hawks in second chance points 24-15. The Owls held their largest lead of 44 points (most in program playoff history) midway through the second half.
